Publishers are looking to develop consistent and dependable revenue through game subscription services. The top three game subscription platforms earned $273M in 2018. In the US, subscription services such as Netflix and Spotify have become the new norm, leading publishers to push game subscriptions by offering more high-profile titles.

Not only can users play new titles at launch, but by offering a variety of titles with in-game content, publishers can develop a stream of dependable recurring revenue.

Playstation Now Earned $143M in 2018, the most of any game subscription service.

Although Sony is the market leader, Xbox Game Pass and EA Access are aggressively pursuing new users by offering new titles at launch.

Price plays a sizable role (51%) when users consider purchasing a subscription.

Consumers weigh the cost of buying games outright with spending $10 a month on average on a subscription.
